Bug and Butterfly Activities: Peek Inside!
These playful bug and butterfly activities include plenty of variety so that you can easily differentiate.
For new readers, work on letter names and letter sounds by coloring rainbow butterflies. You can practice uppercase-uppercase pairs or add a challenge by asking students to match uppercase-LOWERCASE pairs.
Tackle letter sounds with a batch of colorful butterfly puzzles.
Clip rhyming words…
…or, for students who are ready, challenge them to sound out the CVC pairs.
Then, pull out a fun game board to practice reading and writing sight words.
The activity is EDITABLE so you can work on any words under the sun!
And speaking of EDITABLE, work on sight word fluency by flipping over butterflies.
You can individualize instruction by typing in separate, just-right word lists for each small group.
Practice the numbers 2-12 and play with shapes in a fun roll, add and cover game.
Reinforce 0-20 (and tackle those tricky teen numbers!) by counting ten frames and clipping the number that matches.
Feeling crafty?! Learn about the ladybug life cycle and then make a playful paper plate wheel.
Next, study the butterfly life cycle and make a crafty hat.
And that’s just to start!
The fun continues with even more activities kids will love.
