NASA wants university students to solve the moon landing dust problem

[TAG0]NASA hopes to use students to develop ideas on controlling the kick-up of dust when future moon landers set down on our lunar satellite. The initiative is part of what NASA calls the Human Lander Challenge, which has tasked university students with finding ways to help control the amount of dust kicked up by the moon landers on future Artemis missions.  While we still have a couple of years before humanity returns to the Moon and sets foot on the lunar surface again, NASA and its partners are knee-deep in planning how the Artemis III mission will put astronauts on...

Improving Inference Skills

When you hear the word “inference,” does it make your head spin? If I had a penny for every time my coworkers and I talked about improving inference skills, I’d be rich! Inferencing is always a big topic of conversation because it’s a tough skill that has a huge impact on our students' reading comprehension skills, no matter their grade level. It’s also taught in EVERY single grade in elementary school, so coming up with new and engaging ways to teach it can be challenging.  For that reason, I am always looking for engaging and unique ways to enhance my...

Hubble spotted a runaway supermassive black hole for the first time ever

[TAG0]You might think of supermassive black holes as the center point of a galaxy that holds everything together. After all, these cosmic forces of nature emit some of the most powerful gravitational pulls that humanity has ever studied. But what if humanity managed to find a rogue supermassive black hole? One that had left its old galaxy behind and was now sprinting through the interstellar medium?  While the idea might seem like science fiction, that’s exactly what scientists believe has happened in a dwarf galaxy located 7.5 billion light-years from Earth. They think that a now rogue supermassive black hole...

The Zoning Theory of Everything

The prime purpose of government is to create and impliment protocols that allow economic processes take place.  After all ladies, zoning manipulation is the sole cause of homelessneess.  Yet we define them as those others and choose to do nothing at all.  When the fix is easy.Just how useful is zoning regulation when your city is subjected to a creeping artillary barrage?  That is exactly how stupid folks are everywhere.  I do want to say that there are plenty of other ways to mandate protyocols that support economic growth.  Recall that all our land has a government based guarantee which eliminates...

Puzzling radio signal unveils a galaxy cluster’s core

[TAG0]Astronomers observing a mysterious radio halo from the galaxy cluster Abell 1213 have uncovered something unexpected. While the radio signals themselves remain puzzling, they have allowed researchers to unveil the core of the galaxy cluster, right down to the central galaxy contained within.  Even more intriguing about the discovery is that the researchers found evidence of mergers between the galaxies with the cluster. The off-center nature of the radio halo has also provided scientists with quite a puzzle, as most radio signals of this sort act more in line with the gas and dust that make up the “intracluster medium.”...
